The Dr. Steven Mickley Community Health Library at Greenwich Hospital, opened in March 2015, is the first of its kind in the region. Called a ‘hidden gem of a resource,’ the library was generously funded by an anonymous donor to honor Dr. Mickley for his decades of outstanding health care to the Greenwich community. The mission: to encourage and enable individuals to make informed decisions about their own healthcare. ”In an age of information overload, the need for trustworthy, accurate sources has never been more important,” says Lisandra Gutierrez, Consumer Health Librarian. Resources include brochures, books, online resources, computers, free Wi-Fi, and a comfortable reading area. In addition to a plethora of medical information, the library offers one-on-one consultations, reputable medical information sources, education on how to conduct personal health-related searches and will make a visit to a patient’s hospital room upon request. The library is located on the first floor of the Watson Pavilion at Greenwich Hospital.
